NYC rock band, Sunflower Bean, join us at The Roxy Cinema for an exclusive premiere of their 14-minute extended play music video ahead of its release on September 27th. The video premiere will be followed by a Q&A with the band and the director Isaac Roberts, as well as a screening of Dario Argento’s 1975 feature Deep Red.

Sunflower Bean will release their new EP, SHAKE, on September 27th via Lucky Number. The band’s first fully self-produced and recorded project, Shake features some of Sunflower Bean’s heaviest, most immediate, and loudest music to date. Influenced by the doom-laden, heavy metal sound of Black Sabbath the EP is an embrace of rock tropes and excess, and recalls the sonic of the band’s earliest work, Show Me Your Seven Secrets and Human Ceremony.

SHAKE is Sunflower Bean raw and unfiltered, in the band’s most natural state. To further that theme the band will release a 14-minute performance-based video to showcase each track via an interpretation of the natural elements: earth, wind, water, fire, and metal. To achieve this, Sunflower Bean worked with Isaac Roberts, a young, rising director from Toronto. Robert’s recently won a tiff for Best Editing at the tiff Next Wave’s Young Creators Showcase.

Deep Red (1975, 127MIN)-
A psychic medium (Macha Méril) is brutally murdered, and musician Marcus Daly (David Hemmings) feels a need to solve the case, since he was the one who discovered the body. Working with him is reporter Gianna Brezzi (Daria Nicolodi), who hopes for a big scoop by solving the case. When one of Marcus’s own friends ends up murdered at the hands of the same killer, the resourceful pair realize they must work fast to uncover the murderer’s identity or they might serve as the maniac’s next victims.
